Mobile live scan
Mobile live scan means you take a certified platen to the customer: a hospital HR office, a security-guard academy, a church job fair, a construction trailer. It is still the same regulated capture-and-submit work. The difference is logistics, pricing, and who finds you.
What the kit actually is
- Compact FBI Appendix F scanner (SG10 in a padded case is the usual LiveScan360 mobile build)
- Windows laptop you control, not a borrowed office PC
- Hotspot or phone tether plus a backup—hotel Wi-Fi is not a plan
- Card reader or invoicing so you are not chasing checks after you leave
- Power strip, extension cord, and a quiet table you can actually sit at
How mobile money works
Do not price mobile like a walk-in. Charge a travel / on-site fee, a per-head rolling fee, and a minimum headcount so a 40-minute drive for two prints does not lose money. Schools and employers will pay for a booked block. Random “can you come to my house?” requests usually should not.
Agency pass-through and platform fees do not change because you left the office. Only your rolling fee and overhead change.
Physical security follows the kit. The scanner does not live on the back seat at lunch, and you do not enroll people in a hallway where screens and documents are public. Mobile is convenient for the customer. It is not a reason to get sloppy.
