Module 19 of 22·Year one

Year one

Common mistakes

  • Buying the wrong scanner

Uncertified hardware will fail agency quality. Replacing it costs more than buying Appendix F the first time.

  • Quoting the total as if it were yours

If $36 of a $99 Florida print is pass-through, your marketing cannot pretend you “make $99 a scan.”

  • Going live with every product on day one

FDLE civil, AHCA, FBI, and cards are different work. Master the channels you can complete this month.

  • No appointments, all walk-in

You will sit empty, then get a rush of dry fingers at 4:45 p.m. The calendar is the business.

  • Mobile with no job minimum

A 40-minute drive for two prints is charity. Travel fee, per-head, and a headcount floor belong on the mobile quote.

  • Multi-service without a named platen operator

If whoever is free at the shipping counter runs capture, quality and compliance both slip. Live scan needs its own login, menu, and person.

  • Ignoring reject reasons

Sequence and quality errors are operator problems. Software should catch them; you still have to rescan before the applicant leaves.

  • Signing a legacy stack “just to start”

Starting modern is cheaper than migrating in year two. Open on current infrastructure instead of planning a rip-and-replace.
