Buying and registering a Florida livescan device

Listing on this page is only the first gate. FDLE still requires Applicant Services registration, vendor configuration, and a successful test before a device can submit production transactions.

  1. Step 1

    Choose a listed vendor and FBI-certified device

    FDLE expects the livescan unit to come from a vendor on this listing and to also appear on the FBI Certified Products List.

  2. Step 2

    Register the device with Applicant Services

    Email FDLE with your company name, contact details, and vendor. Applicant Services assigns a Device ID and TCN prefix for configuration.

  3. Step 3

    Test on CWCS, then activate

    The vendor schedules installation and an FDLE test submission. After a successful Civil Workflow Control System test, the device can be activated for production.

Common questions

What does it mean to be on the FDLE livescan device vendor list?
FDLE publishes vendors who have had their equipment and electronic fingerprint submissions evaluated against FDLE and FBI technical standards. Listing means those technical specifications for electronic submission to FDLE have been satisfied. It is not a ranking, rating, or exclusive approval.
Does FDLE endorse the vendors on this page?
No. FDLE states that inclusion is not an endorsement or recommendation of one product or business over another, and does not imply certification of the businesses themselves. Confirm the current official PDF before you purchase.
If I buy a device, does it also need FBI certification?
Yes. FDLE’s registration guidance says the device you purchase must also appear on the FBI Certified Products List for livescan systems, and you must complete Applicant Services registration, device configuration, and a CWCS test submission before going live.
How do I register a new livescan device with FDLE?
After you send a purchase order to a vendor on FDLE’s list, email ApplicantChecks@fdle.state.fl.us with your company name, contact details, and vendor name. Applicant Services assigns a Device ID and TCN prefix, the vendor configures the device, and FDLE validates a test submission to the Civil Workflow Control System before activation.
How can a vendor request to be added to the FDLE list?
Vendors not listed may request approval of their product or service by contacting FDLE Applicant Services at (850) 410-8161.
Is this the same as the list of registered livescan submitters?
No. Device vendors supply and configure equipment that can submit to FDLE. Registered livescan submitters are the operators, agencies, and service providers who have a user agreement and active devices. Florida also requires an FDLE user agreement under section 943.053(13), Florida Statutes, for electronic criminal-history submissions.
