Step 1 — Choose a business model

Pick the model that matches where demand already is. Switching later is possible; starting with two half-built models is how first years stall. The three decisions that matter most: mobile or a fixed office, and whether live scan is the only product on the door.

• Fixed desk

  Storefront, office suite, or a room inside an existing shop. Easiest operations, walk-in overflow, and the simplest compliance story.

• Mobile

  You go to employers, schools, and events. Higher per-job fees, more driving, and you still need a certified scanner plus a reliable laptop and connection.

• Add-on desk

  Fingerprinting next to notary, tax, shipping, or a licensing school. Shared rent. The risk is treating live scan as a side hustle that never gets trained operators.

• Hybrid

  A small office for appointments plus scheduled mobile days. This is the usual mature shape in Florida once you have a few contracts.
